Texas Horse Con Invites Horse Show Writer to do Horse Things

Wow, been a while since I've bothered to post Convention news, but given that the cons have been dropping like flies lately, should probably start posting them again. Hey GM Berrow, the cool chick that talks to us and doesn't afraid of anything will be out at Nightmare Nights Dallas this year. Go say hi and stuff.

Words under the magic line.

We're thrilled to have author and screenwriter G. M. Berrow will be returning to Nightmare Nights 2017! This year marks her fourth appearance at Nightmare Nights, an academy record, and we're excited to have her back to share her writing experiences and party with all of you this October!
The author of many of the My Little Pony chapter books, Gillian has started writing episodes of Friendship is Magic with the season five episode The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows and season seven's Fluttershy Leans In. She's spent many years ghostwriting for other children/young adult novels, as well as working in television production for shows like The Good Wife and Law & Order: SVU.
We've got plenty of announcements coming this summer, but any great convention needs help from all of you, too! Panel applications are open from now until September 9, and we're looking for a diverse schedule packed full of talent from all across the fandom. Our vendor application is still open, but will be closing soon! Vendors can submit applications until Friday, June 30th (just shy of two weeks from now) to join our vendor hall. As always, we select vendors via a jury system to ensure that there are a wide range of items for our attendees and vendors. See the applications for more information, and contact us if you have any questions.
And of course, registration is open at a discounted rate until the convention, including our Sponsor badges, which are a great way to make your Nightmare Nights experience even more awesome. Premium Sponsors will be able to mingle with our Guests of Honor at a special cocktail party on Friday night, on top of other Sponsor badge perks like reserved panel seating and memorabilia. Once you're registered, don't forget to reserve your room at the Crowne Plaza Addison using the code MLP for a discount.
Thank you to all our attendees and fans for your continued support! We've got lots more announcements to come over the summer, so be sure to stay tuned to our TwitterFacebook, and Tumblr feeds (and turn on mobile notifications for your phone) for more updates!

  1. First for info that you can get a cheaper deal than the MLP code at the Crowne plaza. You just have to hunt for it.

    1. Too few people use that code and we go broke. If you would, please let the hotel know you're there for the con; that should cover us.

    2. Since Bob didn't say why they would go broke, I'll fill you in. As part of the venue agreement at a convention hotel you have to promise them so many room nights. More nights you're able to promise (room block), the better deal they're willing to cut on convention space and perks. However, there is a catch. If the con doesn't hit a set percentage of their room block (using the special code the hotel provides) then the con is on the hook for paying the difference between anticipated revenue for those rooms and actual. They could end up owing the hotel tens of thousands of dollars if congoers don't use the code.

If you enjoy a con, and want them to be around in the future, please use their hotel booking code.

    3. Oh, it's been said before. It's deep in the world of Tumblr with Nightmare Night's yearly umm...I don't think Patch Notes is the right phrase but something along those lines.

The fact these conventions are built around tourism doesn't really bode well in the long term, though.

  2. So what cons are still out there? I don't keep up with the con scene so all I know about are Bronycon/BABSCon

    1. This is the only one that I keep tabs on that isn't a little local convention.

    2. That it? Damn. Was thinking of trying to try different cons next year.

      Assuming none bite the dust.

    3. From I think 2012 the only conventions I know of that the fandom stands behind are BronyCon, EFNW, Babscon, BronyCon and well....I think that's it. Never liked that divide but it cannot be helped.

  4. Hope this place turns out good. It’s great that this venue offers services such as catering, lighting, tables and chairs, table linen and parking. I am here to choose Los Angeles event venues for my event, glad to know that they do not put any restrictions regarding music played.

  6. Games that have made many people give up because it has quite high skill requirements, are you one of them? Or will you conquer the game and make it tame before you? Experience and feel at the impossible game to confirm it!
