Just today we were shown a small teaser for the upcoming My Little Pony movie, out in theaters by October 2017.

      I'm a little worried that we're 6 months from release and this is the only animation we've seen. It looks nice (ignoring the weird color issues) and looks very smooth and almost looks frame-by-frame drawn, but I've got a bad feeling they're probably running behind and that's why we still haven't seen a single "real" shot from the movie.

    Oh god they're gonna try so hard with the lighting, there's gonna be so many shadows. That Rainbow Dash looked like fanart.

      I hope that lighting/shadows was added in After Effects just for this teaser, and NOT part of the official artwork. Even in the regular Flash-animated show, they sometimes use "fake" shading which is adding a soft light on one side and darkening the other, without actually drawing "real" shadows and highlights, etc. If the whole movie has this horrible fake highlight look (which makes the characters look like weird rounded things sticking up off a 2D surface) it will look really bad.

    No actual scenes from the movie (despite being this late in production), choppy as fuck frame-by-frame coupled with the laziest keyframe group-movement, Pinkie back-and-forthing, no lipsynching, and on top being completely uninformative and pointless.

    Ugh... reading comments on EQD makes me want to vomit. This movie is very clearly obviously running behind schedule, possibly with major production issues, which is why they've re-hired at least one of their semi-high profile animators when his contract originally ended in February.
    Yet people on EQD will find any and EVERY Reason to deny this (admittedly I think its only a few people posting hundreds of the same comment over and over).

    I'm really worried about this movie. Well, not worried. I mean I've been expecting it to be a box office bomb from the start (go in with no expectations, can't be disappointed etc). But I was kind of hoping that the movie itself would be decent despite failing at the box office. But it sounds like things are going really badly behind the scenes, and as usual, whether through naivety or stupidity, the Bronies are spinning every piece of bad news as if this is somehow the best news they've ever received. Even EQD didn't dare write the word "delayed" or "behind schedule". They used the term "production has been extended". Are you fucking kidding me?

      Our fandom has had their ego for many, many years. EQD being in denial about it isn't nothing new...It's been an ongoing problem since probably 2012.

      I don't know. I've known since 2011 that the show staff has zero foresight and this is well within even my own low expectations.
