Ahead of the New York Toy Fair this weekend, Hasbro released pictures of a bunch of toys based on the movie coming in October. Shown above is a "Kingdom of Seaquestria" set, which comes with Queen Novo and Spike the Pufferfish. (?!) More toys announced can be found below.

All of these toys should be out in the Fall and we should be getting more information this weekend. It seems like Hasbro is going all out in an attempt to make the movie succeed. We can only wait to see if it speeds up or hastens the ride.

DeleteOh god that name is terrible. I hope the plot is that Equestria sinks into the ocean so they just rename it Seaquestria. That would still be better than having a separate kingdom with such a dumb name. Spike the Pufferfish lends credence to this theory. Another alternate dimension thing.

I'd just like to point out I was right, the NY Toy Fair news shows all the mane 6 as sea/mer-ponies, so it will be a transformation thing.
DeleteThat sounds interesting, I'm guessing the plot will be that kingdom needs help saving and the Mane Six have to save it with one way being turned into mer-ponies. Not the best plot ever in the world/MLP, but it sounds passable to me.

ReplyDeleteI really, really hope the movie is great and well-received and makes Hasbro a bunch of money. But honestly I'm expecting it to be a critical and financial failure and basically kill MLP G4. Everything we know makes it sound like just another rehash of plot elements the show has done a million times. Hasbro continues their trend of basically being on a 2-3 year time delay in terms of understanding their fans. This movie should have been released in 2014 or so. MLP has declined SIGNIFICANTLY in popularity since its peak in 2012-13.

Considering how fans have been saying that season 6 has been shit (yeah, it's declined in popularity), I'd go out on a limb saying MLP: FiM as a fad right now is practically over and if it is a critical and financial failure (I'm not expecting critics to like it, critics hated the first MLP movie) then yes, G4 MLP will be dead in the water.
DeleteYeah, as far as Hasbro goes, they no long care about making a show with good characters/story, planning or the long term, it's only about toy sales, and frankly I say they hate the fans, and though I'm not a fan of the show anymore, I still think that they're tired of the bronies/pegasisters and were purposefully trying to ruin it so they wouldn't watch it anymore...

One book had an underwater name called "Aquastria", why not use that? Because, like this guy like Mr.WeenieProductions said, that would be WAY too creative, if it ain't cheap, then it's not worth the leap! #BeCheap
ReplyDeleteOnly the Sea Ponies/Merponies or whatever look good, the villain and the new character whom's being played by a celebrity and the others look just very generic and uninspired, like poorly done fanfiction OCs (no offense to people who make any OCs though). Capper looks like a sillier version of Cat R. Waul from An American Tail: Fievel Goes West.
