MLP revenues fall again in 2015 according to Hasbro
Despite what some other post on some other site may try to spin up, things weren't all sunshine and rainbows for the My Little Pony brand in 2015, according to Hasbro's recently released Annual Report for shareholders. When looking at the franchise as a whole there were numerous negative indicators for the the year, and once again, it's mostly Equestria Girls' fault. Among these notations (MLP is mentioned 34 times in the 126 page financial report) there are a few of high importance:
"Girls The girls’ category declined 22% in 2015 compared to 2014, primarily due to expected lower net revenues from FURBY products, as well as declines in MY LITTLE PONY"
"In the girls’ category, higher net revenues from Franchise Brand PLAY-DOH and the introduction of Partner Brand DISNEY DESCENDANTS were more than offset by expected lower net revenues from FURBY products, as well as declines in MY LITTLE PONY products."
"The girls’ category declined 22% in 2015 compared to 2014, primarily due to expected lower net revenues from FURBY products, as well as declines in MY LITTLE PONY, NERF REBELLE and LITTLEST PET SHOP. Core MY LITTLE PONY revenues increased but were, however, more than offset by lower net revenues from the MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS products. These declines were only partially offset by the first full year of net revenues from the PLAY-DOH DOH VINCI brand, the 2015 introduction of the DISNEY’S DESCENDANTS product line and initial shipments of DISNEY PRINCESS and FROZEN products which became available at retail in January 2016."
"Our seven Franchise Brands are LITTLEST PET SHOP, MAGIC: THE GATHERING, MONOPOLY, MY LITTLE PONY, NERF, PLAY-DOH and TRANSFORMERS. As reported, net revenues from Franchise Brands declined 2% in 2015."
Now, there is one positive mention in here that reads "Last year I outlined for you the 2010 relaunch of MY LITTLE PONY through television programming and how we are successfully building this brand by executing around the Brand Blueprint. In 2015, MY LITTLE PONY was our top licensed brand."
What this means is that MLP is the brand that makes the most money by being licensed to other companies for products, NOT that it is Hasbro's top brand.
" MY LITTLE PONY is integrated into our fans’ everyday lives. It is bedroom décor, comic books,a television program and a live action show. In 2017, ALLSPARK PICTURES, Hasbro’s film label, in partnership with Lionsgate, is scheduled to bring MY LITTLE PONY to the big screen in our first animated feature film. A billion dollar brand at retail, we continue to build our consumer base through innovation and great storytelling."
Wait...there's a live action show?
This is really nothing new, we've been pointing out these falling numbers every time the report has come out through the year, and it looks like the Christmas shopping season didn't do much to save them.

Fucking drop EQG and focus on the horses then. That's why people, both little girls and us horse fuckers, care about MLP to begin with. Strengthen your main brand instead of trying to piggyback off Monster High. Pony toys can be adorable, but those human atrocity dolls are pretty damn horrifying. It's not surprising that they're the weak link.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't losing money, it's losing its ability to make money. MLP is still profitable, it's just profiting less than it used to.
ReplyDeleteYou're just putting lipstick on a pig, friend.
DeleteMLP is going down, man.
DeleteMLP is already dead. You are dead too.
DeleteI don't think it helps that Hasbro is very slow to react and get ideas out the door. They do have courage in removing 99% of the packaging off the base pony toy and shove it in a plastic bag.
ReplyDeleteClearly Ha$bro needs to make more large plushies, that can be mmodified to be 'complete' waifus.
ReplyDeleteWell, if the fucking kikes would stop alienating fans, and dishing out C&Ds like candy, they would not be losing profits. Fans would do well to seek out CEO Brian Goldner, and Hasbro's legal team, and have them brutally murdered as punishment for their poor business practices, and violating the sanctity of the First Amendment.
ReplyDeleteAnd if anyone at Hasjew is reading this, remember this, and take it to heart: The customer is ALWAYS right.
Work well; treat the customers well, and you will be treated well. Work badly; disobey the customers...........and you will die.
"The customer is ALWAYS right."
Delete"disobey the customers...........and you will die."
BWA HA HA HA HA *snort* HA HA HA!
You never worked at retail of any customer service isn't it?
Thank for giving me a good laugh!
Nothin personnel, kid.............. **sheaths sword** **flys off into teh sunset**
DeleteI wonder how long Gabe "Blackgryph0n" Brown-noser can keep scamming the declining pony fandom out of their money.
ReplyDeleteBLACKGRYPH0N, GET YO NAVY JEW PEDOPHILE ASS OUTTA HERE!
DeleteOops, shouldn't have shit all over the woman who made all that dosh possible, who would've kept the heart in the show & would've expanded it in conceptually original & interesting directions, keeping fans' attentions & cash... not too late to rehire Faust & reboot the canon as if anything past S1 never happened...
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. I know we're in the minority now, but Season 1 and S2 Episodes 1&2 is the entire "true" FiM to me. It has LOTS of flaws yes, but it has a charm that hasn't been recaptured in any other season (a few episodes here and there get close, but it's not the same).
DeleteIf you're being sarcastic, well, ok.
Apr 13 anon here. I agree, that's my headcanon too -- those 28 episodes... and maybe Luna Eclipsed and Hearth's Warming Eve... most other eps S2 & later lack a certain S1 "feel" that was more sincere, with better-balanced characters and humor, well-thought-out mythology, more nuanced ensemble character interactions, etc...
