Amidst some concerns that Ponyville Live was going to shut down due the Bravely Blue Media LLC, its parent company, ceasing to exist as of January 1, 2016 and Silver Eagle, head director of PVL, unsure of how to advance the media group, the Ponyville Live venture has been officially handed off to Poniverse and Dusk.
Release after the break.
Ponyville Live Lives! Poniverse and the Future of PVL:
Howdy everypony! Silver Eagle here, network director of the Ponyville Live media network.
As some of you may have seen, this weekend I finished the process of dissolving Ponyville Live’s “parent” company, Bravely Blue Media LLC. After this announcement was posted, many wondered what would become of Ponyville Live itself, and whether the network would continue to operate in the future.
Today I’m happy to announce that yes, the Ponyville Live network will stay online! From the public side, the same pony radio stations, podcasts, video streams and media that you love will stay just the same.
To keep things running smoothly, there are some administrative changes, however, and I’d like to go over all of those so everyone’s on the same page. The first change is that I’ll be stepping down as the director of the Ponyville Live! network. I will be replaced in that capacity by Alex “Dusk” Howard, who has served as an administrator for the network and several of its stations for several years now.
Make no mistake, it has been an immense honor and privilege to serve in the capacity of network director of PVL for three years now. I hope that in that time, the work of me and my team has made a positive impact on your life as a brony. First and foremost, though, my passion in this world is as a software developer, and the political position wasn’t one that I was ever really very good at.
Over the years, my time in PVL has taken quite a toll on me both financially and psychologically, and in the interest of preserving the good memories, I think it’s time to move on from that role.
Because I do still strongly believe that PVL is a useful service that means something to a lot of bronies out there, rather than just kill off the service entirely, I have opted instead to step down into the role of an everyday developer, and hand the keys over to Dusk.
As for infrastructure, that’s where our friends at Poniverse come in.
For many years now, our two networks have been close friends, sharing radio data and integrating their Pony.fm music service into our homepage. We also worked with them to modernize our MLP Music Archive, integrating its contents with the Pony.fm library. In the recent few months, they’ve taken great steps to make their own service’s code open and transparent, and I feel like this aligns very closely with Ponyville Live’s own goals. They have a large and active team of developers who can give the PVL project the love it deserves.
Between now and the end of the year, we will start both of these transitions, moving the directorship to Dusk and the infrastructure to Poniverse. We will do everything possible to make sure that this transition is a seamless one, and that the web sites, apps and players that you know and love continue to work.
I’m very excited about what the future holds for Ponyville Live. I’m both relieved and exceptionally grateful to have found a manager and team who were willing to take on the responsibility of maintaining the network and taking the bulk of the workload off my shoulders, allowing me to focus on what makes me the happiest of all, just building cool web sites for people.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who keeps supporting us after all these years. You, the audience, have given us all the reason in the world to keep this project going. I hope that Ponyville Live will long continue to be another little part of what makes being a brony something special.-Silver Eagle
We await to see what the new management will bring to PVL.

WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH PIKAPETEY!?
Deletehttp://puu.sh/lWiBb/53a2962091.swf
DeleteIs this just another way for that fat fuck to keep drumming up sympathy and get more handouts?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the judgement to be passed one me ever here. Heh.
Delete@Silver Eagle
DeleteMaybe because the type of audience that you cater to are literally the type of people that calls you a fat fuck looking for handouts. Seriously, if you want hugbox type of shit, go cater to EQD and stop collaborating with channers.
@Anon
DeleteWho says I want a hugbox? I'm not saying you people trigger me or something. I love the hell out of HN.
@Anon, This is Silver Eagle you're talking to, not that other fat fuck named Final Draft.
Delete@Silver Eagle, sorry to hear about your leaving; you've always been one of the few people in this fandom who actually has a brain and uses it on a regular basis.
Horse news plants a grudge against many things and just can't let go. EFN for example. They want them to suffer. How could you love someone like that?
Delete^ Maybe if Final Shaft and(most of) the other EFN people weren't such pieces of shit, maybe they wouldn't be saying the things that they're saying about them ;)
DeleteAnd if we're talking about Purple Tinker, she's been pretty much going out of her way to show people just how much of a drama loving, entitled bitch she is, so yeah....
DeleteAt least Final Draft doesn't whine and complain on his Twitter about why he can't get bariatric surgery for his weight instead of, you know, actually working out. A year doing some low impact exercises and anyone can do it. Look up weight loss successes with DDP. Those people were WAAAY bigger than Silver. Silver is just as pathetic and you're enabling him to kill himself.
DeleteAnon 16:54, nobody here is "enabling" him, and even if somebody WAS doing that, it's not like making fun of him for his weight is any better.

Sigh, just another moment in time to where the brony fandom is coming to an end. In three yeas time people will have forgotten about MLP!!!
ReplyDelete"HURRRR, SOMEONE WHO DOES SOMETHING FOR A FANDOM ISN'T GOING TO DO IT ANYMORE, THEREFOR THE FANDOM IS ENDING!"
Delete.... Said no intelligent person ever.
Noticing empirical trends such as the slowing growth, shrinkage, and closure of many conventions (BronyCon has had it's slowest growth this year of only +400 attendees, and I expect next BronyCon to be smaller than this year's), as well as many stations shuttering, old musicians and artists departing with newest artists failing to fill their boots in following, and the boom and bust of media networks with no groups replacing them even close in size or quality... even my university's brony club used to have 30+ members strong per meeting, and apparently it rarely ever has more than a dozen meeting attendees anymore. it is certainly a trend.
DeleteFact is, the fandom as the oldfags know it is dying. The harder question to solve is if the fandom is regenerating itself. I think it is a bit but not at a pace to match it's shrinkage.
I've noticed since 2012 with our society Mu[shroo]shi is that we're highly focused on the now rather than the future. The example that comes to mind that ties along with your club example is a college campus that had a brony group. Sadly it disappeared because being a two year college they didn't think much of what happens when they would leave.
DeleteAs for regenerating itself I've kind of wondered if it'll drop back to 2012/13 levels and remain around there. Many of the people in this fandom weren't even in it for the show and once their friends that got them into it left they may of gone separate ways?
There you have it, a hispanic otaku midget who works for HN spelling out why your beloved fandom is dying.
DeleteI don’t think so. Let’s be real. Actions have consequences. And you chuckleheads have shown every kind hearted and genuine person in this fandom that we are the types of people who assault every mistake. People just don’t feel safe anymore. No one hurt by you or smart enough not to is going to commiserate with you. The only ones left are the ignorant masses you haven’t destroyed yet.
When you get done with those poor bastards, have fun jerking each other off.
16:47. If you want to add to the realism a good portion of those that 'run' many components of our fandom...Whether it be conventions, websites, meetups, music groups and all that stuff...Genuinely don't partake in the show's teachings or gives a damn about none other than themselves.
DeleteMany of the ignorant masses don't give a shit provided they have their product...Their ponies.

ReplyDeleteOnce Poniverse explodes it'll shatter a good majority of the fandom.
ReplyDeleteDon't they say not to put all one's eggs in one basket?
in a way, PVL was a massive basket of radio stations anyways and now its being put inside another basket of Poniverse
DeleteOf course. I was mostly looking at it in the sense many folks, like myself, ignore radio stations completely so PVL is just one small patch compared to a network that does pretty much everything (and acquires 'everything' so to speak).
DeleteBut PVL really isn't a basket. It's more like a support group, with a fantastic piece of software built by Silver and Friends (which you can just grab off GitHub), with friends who know some shit and can pool talent and knowledge.
DeleteSome stations might die without PVL, but a lot won't. We don't all rely on PVL for hosting. PVL isn't just a media network, it's a group of friends with talents.
If it wasn't for the hosting and convenient software that we have, the entire shebang could probably run off a $5 DO VPS. But Silver's nice. So we get cool shit.

Always a laugh when someone gives a good old doomsday prediction for the fandom whenever something from the old gaurd steps away, or changes hands. People have been saying shit like this since 2012.
ReplyDeleteThe fandom isn't "dying" you dumbass mother fuckers. The fandom is far larger than people realize, as they tend stick to their little circles and rarely venture outside their comfort zone into other areas. We've always been in transition, with people either moving onto other projects outside MLP, or simply becoming more casual fans with more diverse interests.
As horrifying as it sounds, I know, people have other interests and fandoms outside MLP. People are also growing up and finding less time on their hands as they try and make real carees for themselves, rather than dick riding the show's popularity.
If bronies have been consistent with one thing, it's that that do not like change, it terrifies them. I think that's why so many still cling to that hack Faust, why hasn't even been involved since season 2. She has nothing to do with the show and opinions are meaningless, get over it already. The MLP fandom is over 30 years old and isn't going anywhere, however the FiM fags are screwed. 2017 will probably spell the end of your meager existence as FiM wraps up and Hasbro announces and generation to take its place.
Just as EFN is not anything that needed to exist, neither did PVL. This fandom took itself far too seriously for far too long, it's fun watching that aspect collapses and become more casual. Let us all pray that horse famous once again becomes a joke and people stop kissing the ass of "popular" bronies.
