The Brony fandom, once proud and prosperous, is set to be kill by the end of 2017 at best, according to our statistics correspondents.
Grim findings show that current trends signal a decline in the Brony Fandom. Interest in activities involving My Little Pony outside of the target demographic is on a sharp decent from its peak in 2012.
Studies show that interest in Bronies has been on a gradual decline to "About as Interesting as Whatever that Kid with the Helmet Watched in Freshman Algebra" since it rose from "Absolutely Disgusting" and peaked at "Mildly Arousing" in 2012.
Unsurprisingly, similarly lumped interests such as My Dick are still rising strongly alongside Your Mom.
An expanded view of the trend for interest in Bronies shows that the fandom peaked around 2012 and 2013 when the world shuddered at the first international exposition of autism known as Bronycon.
Shares of My Little Pony [MLP] seems to be holding strong against the Brony [ASPI] after peaking in Q3 2013. Forecasts show it will continue on this trend until the foreseeable future and .
Sources state that the trend also corresponds with the sale of my little pony merchandise at Hot Topic and the subsequent splurging of moms money by lonely high-schoolers.
Redacting Q4 Holiday searches, the trend for interest in hot topic follows roughly the same path as brony.
One high-schooler, now a senior, said that he "just isn't as interested in My little Pony as much as [he] was as a freshman."
"Ever since I discovered girls and anime, I have better things to do with my time."Though the source stated that he still goes to toys r us every now and then to buy some merchandise with his equally as nerdy girlfriend.
"If Hot Topic came out with some cooler shirts and stuff I'd probably get back into the fandom."When asked whether or not he still watches the show every weekend, the source was busy catching up on Game of Thrones.
Leading math people say that the decline in the fandom is also partly due to the surge of interest in Game of Thrones. Half assed Lord of the Rings ripoffs are statistically more popular during the "kick off" phase than a half-decent toy commercial, though their novelty runs out after the season ends and once people actually get into Lord of the Rings.
Interest in toy commercials though remains strong long after the shows run out of content because they are actually grounded in physical objects that people can play with an enjoy every now and then and aren't ten thousand pages of wannabe Tolkien political drivel.
Seriously, like who the fuck even likes Game of Thrones? I fell asleep during the first chapter and episode, and this is coming from a guy who binged Star Wars and Lord of the Rings without sleep. At least those were whimsical enough to enjoy and didn't give my autistic brother PTSD every time I mentioned the word "Red." The only thing fantasy about GoT is its book covers and its medieval setting. The rest is pure shite.
Also, you're a pleb because you didn't read the books and ponies are cool, although just not as hip as before..

Nice.
The brony fandom will die? Good. About fucking time. Full of elitists and assholes. Famous bronies and hack journalists who think their shit doesn't stink. Too good to interact with "the little people." Fuck you, Horse News, and all the other "horse famous" content creators on the net. Talentless hacks.
ReplyDeleteit's a big one

ReplyDeleteIs the fandom stagnant? I'd say so. Is that a bad thing? I argue it isn't. Stagnant simply means it's not growing at the pace it used to. There's still tons of music, art, movies, PMVs, fanfics, conventions, and... oh yeah, EPISODES AND MOVIES coming out. There's plenty of content for those of us who still enjoy the world of the technicolor horses.
ReplyDeleteAre fans leaving for other things? Sure. Are content creators leaving? Sure. Are new people joining? Yep. New content creators? Definitely, on top of new content from existing content creators. We (the fandom) were definitely over-saturated on conventions for a while (and one could argue we still are), but given the fandom survived Las Pegasus (and all the effects it had on the people who really matter, the show staff who showed up) I think things look good well into the future.
We're a third of the way through the fifth season. Season 6 is guaranteed, as is another EqG movie and a genuine MLP movie. The comics have been rather "eh" lately but it's also a decent source of content. I haven't read the story books, but they're not a bad thing to have, either. There's plenty of fresh canon/first-party content coming, and the fandom has enough creative autism in it to expand on new and existing concepts in interesting ways.
The staff still regularly interacts with the fans over social media, and they seem as enthusiastic as they ever have been to work on the show. They're still having fun, and as long as they're enjoying what they're doing, they'll continue to do it well. As long as the show still seems profitable to the corporate entity, I think everything's going to be just fine past 2017.
Oh god the ball pit...

OMG Mobile Gaming is dying! As much as I wish that were true, because parasitic shit "games" that you play on the crapper like these are destroying the actual video game industry, it's not the case.
The main issue is that most everyone knows about these terms already. Ask some shlub on the street and they can tell you what a brony is. They may be wrong, natch, but they've at least heard the term.

As in Squid Girl? I'm in.
DeleteWhat are you guys talking about? The Brony fandom died back in 2011.
ReplyDelete>Implying the ride has an end.
ReplyDeleteI'd say if anything the first graph shows that the wider world has gotten over their "omg look at these gross autists" fascination with the fandom. Also no one sane is left who would self-identify with the term. In earlier days there were probably hundreds/thousands of normies trying to figure out what was going on for every horsefucker searching "brony". Once you're on the ride you aren't going to google it unless you're looking for something to post in a cringe thread anyway. Stats confirm nobody cares anymore.
The foreseeable future and WHAT?
ReplyDeleteI really don't think the fandom is dying, just look at the views of some pony videos or subscribers of some brony channels.
ReplyDeleteMaui Land & Pineapple Company [MLP]
ReplyDeleteAs is all things fandom, this too shall die hard. No painless death awaits; no medicated peaceful umber, no immediate demise avoiding actual participation - this shit will die hard, bleeding every way until Sunday while screaming bloody murder! It'll be a horrible, visceral end that will hurt everyone it can as hard as it can. Rest assured.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I'm a huge fan of Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and Splattoon! Just so yannow. There're options put there.
EQD's founder Cynderfag has already stuck his varicose-vein-encaged dick in Steven Universe, expect that fall under the spell of autism soon.
DeleteGraphs can prove anything.
ReplyDeleteOf course we get less press attention. Who's gonna google the search term "brony" anyways?
ReplyDeletePeople who don't know what bronies are, but most people already know it by now.
>fitting with a 1-st order poly
ReplyDeleteHah
Less people searching "MLP" =/= less fandom members
ReplyDeleteAt the rate shit's going, GOOD!
DeleteI don't think you understand =/=. It's the same as !=. It means "not equal to".
DeleteI think i never going stop begin brony to 100% but sure intressted might vary during the years. Ontill then, Sig Hoovestrong brony Forever...
ReplyDeleteI was a huge Darkwing Duck fan in the 90s. And you know what? I still am.
ReplyDeleteHow old are you, m8?
DeleteGood, now all the posers will leave our glorious fandom. Only the truest of horsefuckers shall remain. Praise them!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I'm most excited for only true battle hardened fans will remain. Cull the weak. XD
DeleteWhen all the casuals are gone I will be able to share my private collection of horse pussy photos without the fear of being reported to the CIA. Wait till you'll see that perlino one! Hot-hot-hot! But that won't happen until 2017. So yeah...

ReplyDeleteSlow news day, huh?
ReplyDeleteWhen you do trend searchs for "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic", it's been fairly strong, with a bit of a decrease lately due to the hiatus:
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=%2Fm%2F0czdsgs
"mlp" has been steadily increasing:
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=mlp
"mlp art" is stronger than ever:
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=mlp%20art
"my little pony art"
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=my%20little%20pony%20art
"mlp music" isn't so strong, but it doesn't look like it's dying:
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=mlp%20music
"my little pony music"
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=my%20little%20pony%20music
Still plenty of interest in the episodes:
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=mlp%20episodes
"mlp fan"
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=mlp%20fan
Whoa, MLP fans aren't dying at all. Seems like, over time, it's been pretty steady.
This kinda matches up with what I've been seeing among lots of folks. I think folks are slowly moving away from the term "brony". It's hardly quantitative, I know. I get the impression some folks think it's a bit of a silly name. I think more folks are opting for "MLP fan" or "Pony fan".
Sorry, it doesn't work that way.... "brony 4 life", remember? We are destined to become 90-year-old man-children jacking off to ponies in the nursing home!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good deal to me.
DeleteI agree
DeleteThe show quality has taken a serious turn for the worse lately, coupled with an irregular release schedule the decline is obvious. A part of may be that with so many writers the characters have become more two dimensional as it is hard to keep subtilties consistant across a constantly turning over writing staff. Pinkey Pie 's personality is always up to 11, fluttershy has lost her passive aggressiveness, Rarity now not shown working anymore, it was character subtilities that made the characters relatable without them MLP is just another generic children's show.
ReplyDeleteThe reason the marketing is going down the new episodes of Season 5 are not good and their getting worse. That's why everyone is leaving fandom. They don't like alicorn Twilight Sparkle because it's racist and they want Unicorn Twilight SparkleNback in the season finale or Season 6 premiere and put the rest of the past episodes behind us and stay the way it is. Discord will turn back to evil of chaos because that reform Discord SUCKS and overated and that gala episode with him is the worst episode ever. The Friendship Rainbow Castle must be DESTROYED because it's an eye-sore and it looks like King Haggard's Kingdom from the Last Unicorn. And the Golden Oak Library must return In Season 6 and never to be destroyed again. And we want the Elements of Harmony back because it is the greatest power of all ponydom instead that's ricducolus Raindow Power because it's racist.
ReplyDeleteMost people have gotten used to the changes you mention actually.
Deletewere not done with the shitty fandoms just yet we still got those damn homestuckfags and pixar animation to kill off and things will slowly go back to the pre 9/11 era (aka the days of november 1986-march 2001)
ReplyDeleteReading this a years later, I realize that "2017" is quite real today, even if this article was wrote for Drama & Fun.
ReplyDeleteProbably the movie will mark the end.
You will see.
If not, hope that S7 will be better than the S6.
