The fandom's endemic cabin fever is only going to become more intense over the next few months, as we delve further and further into the most gripping hiatus on record. In that time, we can expect numerous hoaxes, mirages, and outright bullshit to arise. But in among all the waste, we can in fact expect to find nuggets of truth, though we won't know the gold from the fools until we get back into the season. Today, we have two pieces of information circulating the interwebs, one having to do with future episodes, another having to do with future guests.
Up top, is a supposed "leaked document" from Discovery Family, showing the supposed names of the first 5 episodes of Season 5. Many have already shot this down as being illegitimate, as the filenames of both Episodes 4 and 5 bear the same name. This is likely a hoax, but the potential exists that it is merely a typo, given the company's long history with such things (see: "It's never too late to give up on your dreams"). It is, however, a probable fake of low quality, with many plainly-visible holes.
Next, is a screencap of a youtube comment thread, in which #horsefamous musician Black Gryphon hints at some upcoming developments with the show's guest list. A user named "Molo9000" said "Neither fandom OC nor fandom celebrities belong in the show. One of the few good things Hasbro did was preventing such attempts in the past."
Black Gryphon responded with "Molo9000 If I were you, I wouldn't celebrate just yet..."
This could mean many things, but many believe it is BG alluding to his own future appearance in the show's roster.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Thanksgiving-leftovers-food coma.
BG is trolling. After the absolute proof provided that fandom figures and OCs cause major shitstorms when they appear in Pony content, even barely-canon content (thanks Ted) there is no way he's appearing in the show. That was a show rule from the word go.
ReplyDeleteIt is still really difficult to get an OC on the show, I understand. I've heard of no such rule for fandom figures.
DeleteIs there a concern that they will make it "impure" somehow? I mean, sure, I totally understand not wanting someone on the show who just includes the most awkward memes they can, but there are lots of talented folks who do respect the show and could contribute a lot.
What is the concern, exactly?
Who do you think makes these awkward memes, exactly? Where do they come from?
DeleteThat's why.
17:12 here again. I'm still not clear on something. We've seen why involving just anyone in the fandom is bad, as we did with Ted Anderson. There are some people you don't ever want touching the official material. I get that.
Delete/mlp/ seems to have a thing where anyone involved with the fandom at all is automatically bad. The creators have often said that they put stuff in the show they themselves find entertaining, and I think even they themselves have no idea what's going to hit it off with fans.
Say they contribute something that's actually neat to the show. Say the episode was good and completely in keeping to the spirit of the show and lore of Equestria. (Yeah, well, who the fuck knows, right?)
I'm still pretty sure some folks on /mlp/ would be mad about it. I'm genuinely curious why.
I'm just gonna leave this here. http://youtu.be/KTsAxhwFDrc?t=51m11s
DeleteI'm surprised no one else noticed/reported this, but I guess not everyone in the fandom keeps track off what goes on at Finnish pony conventions.
No link to the YT comment, no proof.
ReplyDeleteI found it, cuz Horse News are too much faggots to do so... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zbz2iBNpJ-s&google_comment_id=z12tyjlzevu4f1kle22kg5zqjnebhnuju04
ReplyDeleteOr maybe Gryphon is just fucking with that guy. Actually, that's so much more likely, that it's stupid to consider anything else, especially an actual appearance by him.

DeleteI don't get it, what is so special about Gryph0n?
ReplyDeleteHe's part of the Creber Harem of Neckbeards.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, I can't stand BlackGryphon. The elitism and the ego he exudes just makes me sick to my stomach. That, and he doesn't even have the goddamn decency to give his other fellow military bronies the time of fucking day. Just because you got your fame now, and you want more of it, doesn't mean like you can't say wassup to us. Too busy fucking Michelle Crebber's twat and committing a possible felony that nothing matters to you anymore? You can't get any higher than that? You think you're hot fucking shit? Fuck you, BlackGryphon. We don't need you, or Canadian red diaper doper babies like Michelle Crebber and Claire Corlett fucking up the voice acting world for people who actually enjoy it, and fans who appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteSo sad and bitter... Switch to decaf bro.
Delete>That, and he doesn't even have the goddamn decency to give his other fellow military bronies the time of fucking day.
DeleteNice implication there. Unless you're one of the military bronies group, you'd never know if he talks to them or not.
>The elitism and the ego he exudes just makes me sick to my stomach.
Since when did he say "I'm better than you"? Like I said, you're making too much implications on things you don't know about.
>Just because you got your fame now, and you want more of it, doesn't mean like you can't say wassup to us.
Yes he can. And who's "us"?
>We don't need you,
Bronies, /mlp/ horsefuckers, and general fans of the show states otherwise. His music makes up a good day to many people. And again, who's "we"? You don't speak for everyone but yourself.
3/10 "I raged at him. Am I cool yet?"
Hello BlackGryphon
DeleteTo anon #3, I say this to you

Anon 3 has a point, if you ask me. I'm not a major major fan of BG (I listen to his music occasionally and it seems okay to me), but I've yet to hear a legit reason to hate the guy. Just seems to me like Anon 1 is a bitter, lonely faggot who's mad that some nobody fandom "celebrity" didn't acknowledge him. And why should he? Why does this guy owe you his time and attention? Do you think you've done something to earn it? Or do you think that by being in the same vaguely-defined group as you (military bronies), he is just obligated to pay attention to whatever shit you have to say?
DeleteSemper Filly pls go

Here's a fun little drinking game: Take a shot whenever Black Gryphon mentions Michelle Crebber and/or Claire Corlett on his Twitter.
ReplyDeleteActually, don't try this, you'll be dead in 2 minutes.
ITT: I don't like Gryphon cause he's a bit weird so he's appearing in the show.
ReplyDeleteIt goes much deeper than weirdness, anon.
DeleteHow? Point is, regardless of what you dislike him for, legitimate or not, it doesn't mean he's going in the show and some peopel just see it that way because they like an argument.
DeleteBut anyway, what's he done that's a legitimate reason to dislike him?
Anon, he's WAY too close to Crebber. So close, I think he might have gone a step further than Mandopony, and successfully robbed the cradle.
DeleteDo we actually KNOW that, or are you just making assumptions? Because it's easy to decide you hate someone and then make up bullshit reasons later. And personally, I just don't see it. I know this concept is beyond most of you neckbeards here, but it IS possible to be friends with a girl without wanting to bang her.
DeleteFirst of all, Crebber's not 18 yet.
DeleteSecond of all....

ReplyDeletePlease. If that were the case, Black Gryphon would have reacted to this by now. I hate the guy. But he's actually being smart about this.
