We don't credit people's shit, whatever |
Clearly this site can't get their shit together.
Local Baltimore new site CityPaper seemed to have its way with the brony fandom in their article entitled "The problem with bronies: a look at the corruption of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". In the article, writer and we can assume Tumblr user Gianna DeCarlo goes over the positive side of the fandom that breaks the social barrier of gender targeted programming and the more charitable or kinder side of things, but also quickly dives in to the darker side of the fandom. DeCarlo says that adding bro to your fandom member general name makes it basically misogynistic and that the sexual side gone rampant is absolutely disgusting, even though CityPaper prides itself with the symbol CP and doesn't see a lick of irony in that.
What else can be said about the article? Well it's filled with the usual Tumblrisms and hypocritical statements one can usually find. Here, have an example.
"Consider "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic," a revival of the '80s cartoon with a target demographic in the 2-12 age range. What could go wrong? Older male fans got into the show, which is fine. Awesome, actually. Ditching hypermasculine ideals and a misogynistic aversion to all things considered "girly" to enjoy a TV show is commendable, because gender-specific marketing is dumb anyway. But then they dubbed themselves "bronies," because male-dominated nerd culture is a plague on society that insists on getting its greasy handprints all over anything."Now calm down we're not going to start using that stupid hashtag staple we've come to know as #NotAllBronies (which says a lot if this has become a thing). Let it be clear that this fandom is fucking strange. Like, a lot. But at the heart of it all the more normal people keep it all in good fun. There's just some really sick fucks out there, as there is with every fandom, and these people are always the more vocal and hard to ignore. However, the disturbing things one can find on google if you're inattentive enough to let your child go crazy on Google with out safesearch or a child block was too much for DeCarlo, which lead to another great gem.
"The porn and subsequent clopping, which is a fandom term for masturbating, is just the beginning. Bronies appropriate the oppression of real-life actual people to burden themselves with a victim complex that they believe makes them immune to criticism. An example is a panel at Bronycon this year called "Coming Out of the Stable." This is the idea of a "My Little Pony" fan admitting to family and friends that he likes the show after hiding it in fear of judgment and scorn. This is an insulting trivialization of the struggles that queer people go through in the coming-out process and should not have even been considered as a panel in the first place."What can't be ignored in the article is the beautiful writing style and great attention to detail, leaving all hints from certain blog sites out. In fact, DeCarlo even makes mention of her respect and love and admiration for the good fandom on her personal twitter, tastefully called @ItsGiannaBitch.

It's strange really. Like a lot of things in life, I feel like the useless drama we write about seems to run in cycles that cause extreme deja vu. Who does this remind me of...
...Nah, doesn't ring a bell.
As for ChildPorn news Baltimore and their article, we would like to make one thing very clear. From the words of CapperGeneral, only WE are allowed to talk shit about the fans. You're on our turf so get stepping mother fuckers. Can you dig it?
RULE 85, NO EXCEPTIONS |
UPDATE
Our favorite quote from the article was "You’re not oppressed for being a brony, you baby." Shit, Horse News agrees in spades on that one. No one gets bullied for that at all.
And she's not oppressed for being a woman.
ReplyDeleteU mad
ReplyDeleteholy shit, if I wanted to read this spewage, I could have just taken a stroll through a certain chunk of tumblr
ReplyDeleteno seriously, this is literally every arguing point that tumblrinas schlick over all day long in article form
1/10, zero originality, points lost for the unironic hashtag usage
Did some digging on CP's website. Apparently DeCarlo is an intern, which would explain why she writes like a bad tumblr blog and has the coherency of a traffic jam.
ReplyDeleteSomeone's about to lose her internship.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, on the Internet, a place where at least 80% of people are male, complaining about men is rather a lost cause.
ReplyDeleteCommon misconception. The ratio of males to females on the Intertubes is pretty even: http://visual.ly/map-internet-users-gender-malefemale-ratio
DeleteIt's just that CERTAIN SITES are at least 80% male. For instance, 4chan. Or, well, this site.
And how many of those females ventures outside of the Facebooks and the Instagrams to do other things than post selfies?
DeleteThere are plenty of women on 4chan. They post their boobs all the time.
DeletePurple Tinker is adding to the MALE ration here.
DeleteDon't you have anything better to do, Purple Tweaker? You are NOT welcome here.
DeletePurple Tinker is not welcome anywhere anymore.
Delete/mlp/ just posted to her twitter. It was some pic of anon fucking her OC
ReplyDeleteCan always count on Anon ^.^
DeleteOne thing I will say about Gianna DeCarlo. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
ReplyDeleteA conservative liking ponies? That's like a faggot joining Westboro Baptist Church or a nigger joining KKK. I don't even...
DeleteThat's because you can't see past your political blinkers or outside your little liberal horsebox.
DeleteBronies know no creed except horsefuckery. Left, right, they're just flanks to the delicious candyvag.
By any right wing standard besides libertarian you are a degenerate though.
Delete"Liberalism is a mental disorder"
DeleteWhich talk show host did you borrow that phrase from?
I'm a conservative and I like ponies.
DeleteI am also conservative...
DeleteOh shit this made its way to EQD, I can't imagine the spaghetti !!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou guys have just proven her point.
ReplyDeleteYou're not so upset about or defending your true Brony-ness but super butthurt and turning it into a reason to attack someone who doesn't agree with you.
Way to go. Whether or not you were "that" type of Brony before, you've crossed over.
Her "point" consisted of "boys have cooties!" and a bunch of made up bullshit that has been shot down so hard it might as well have been flying over ukraine.
DeleteGo back to Tumblr, miss "I hate men because they don't like my saggy tits".
DeleteI guess no one has taught you about what sarcasm is. You're hung up on a cooties joke and this "made up bullshit" so I see that you've missed the point yourself.
DeleteYou know what the problem with you Tumblrfags is? It's that you refuse to accept that there can be a right and a wrong answer to an issue. Everything has to be a matter of opinion. That's why people are allowed to get away with shit like headmates, or identify as whatever the fuck they want. On Tumblr, there are people who say that if you identify as wheelchair-bound when you're not, you can call yourself transabled and be treated just the same. Fuck what objective reality says, because that's how you FEEL. That's your OPINION. And you can just accuse anyone of being a bigot if they instead identify you as a fucking moron.
DeleteMiss Bitch is arguing from ignorance. Being wrong is not the same as disagreeing with someone. If she's being attacked for any reason, it's for being an idiot, not for saying mean things about us that we don't like.
Go back to your dark master, whore of Babylon. Return to Satan and tell him that the realms of men remain unconquered.
Prove her point? What, that she's basically another no lifer insecure about themselves and feels that she and others like herself have alot to lose in a corporate toyline that exploits factory workers overseas at a shit wage?
DeleteI would say that reading the above replies has made me realise that bronies completely lack self distance, but it's a fact I've known for years now...
DeleteIf you seriously think that /mlp/ of all places is unable to take criticism of the fandom, then you're even more ignorant that I imagined.
Delete/mlp/ RUINED the fucking fandom. They killed it.
Delete>/mlp/ ruined the fandom
Delete>4chan made the fucking fandom
>do_you_know_where_you_are?.jpg
Oh wow. I'm female, and gay, and I'm not offended by "Brony" at all, and I thought the "Coming Out of the Stable" was a pretty funny play on coming out. This lady is a Grade A example of another dumbass SJW white knight.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I completely thought the sick fucks link was gonna lead TiaraWhy's website.
LMFAO oh I love the drama coming from every side! Dance monkeys dance!! God I love you /mlp/. Keep coming into things uninvited!
ReplyDelete>muh dudebros
ReplyDelete>muh sexualization
>muh appropriation of metaphors
>muh rape culture
After a certain point, these articles seem like they're spewed out by an SJW version of the good old Postmodernism Generator.
Also from her Twitter: cat enthusiast. Welp, at least she's self-conscious about ending up alone with 20 of the buggers.
That was a totally sexist insult you made there. Very uncalled for. The Cat Lady is a misogynistic stereotype that implies women with cats are frigid. Also, your thinly veiled speciesm is disgusting towards cats. But you're a brony, so what is there to expect?
Delete^ I can't even
DeleteIncorrect; The Cat Lady is a horror-themed adventure game available for $9.99 on Steam
DeleteThe sad thing is that no joke anon 2 could make will ever be more insane than some of the actual beliefs that SJWs can hold. If someone told me that that comment was an actual quote from someone on Tumblr, I'd believe it.
DeleteAnon 1 here, don't forget to call out 'buggers'(slur against homosexuals in Britbong), erasure of asexuals/ lesbians by assuming she wants a dude and the notion that women need male validation in the form of a relationship in the first place.
DeleteIs that really what buggers means?
DeleteIt does, in fact.
DeleteSo you mean this whole time I've been telling people to fag off...
DeleteActually, that's not a bad insult. Quirky enough to break tension, solid enough to be insulting
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there ALSO a word for female fans? "Pegasister"? Which was then dropped because said pegasisters thought it was dumb and a way to cast them aside, and wanted in the "brony" thing?
ReplyDeleteIn other words, didn't girls in the fandom specifically reject the concept of a female specific name and embrace brony as a gender neutral one?
They did indeed. Or, most of them did, anyway.
DeleteBut do you really think that GiannaBitch will do that much research? Especially when actually doing research will only serve to debunk her arguments?
I don't fucking blame her. If I was an unpaid intern at a ChildPorn newspaper I wouldn't try hard either
Deleteone of the ways i manage to keep my faith in humanity is to believe that every SJW post is made by trolls from /pol/
ReplyDeleteif the illusion is broken, then i get depressed and begin to hate my own species...
>/pol/
Delete>any better
I rather not trade in one group of stupid niggers for another group of stupid niggers
It's beautiful isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAnon 1, if you need something to laugh your ass off about, she actually went over to EQD and started back peddling in the comments on what she wrote. It was real pathetic damage control on her part.
ReplyDelete"H-hey I'm just like you guys! I've been an MLP fan for so long! I was just trying to high light problems of the fandom in an shitty fashion! I-I-I know not all of you are assholes! Really!" She then deleted her back peddling comment and basically locked her twitter. I don't know about you, but I find it real funny a grown woman like her would suddenly be afraid of manchildren.
Also nah. The ddos rumor is bunk. It's just their site couldn't handle the traffic they were getting.
>implying criticism of a shit article and shit writer is misogyny
ReplyDeletedon't you have an angst-ridden blog to update or something
Do we have any proof that the DDOS thing was actually just traffic overload?
ReplyDeleteTruly it was an amazing event.. Can't wait for the next one..
ReplyDeleteThe Baltimore City Paper article is pretty damn accurate if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteI have read through other blogs, but they are cumbersome and confusing more than your post. I hope you continue to have such quality articles to share with everyone! I believe a lot of people will be like to read this article!
ReplyDeleteOur favorite quote from the article was "You’re not oppressed for being a brony, you baby." Shit, Horse News agrees in spades on that one. No one gets bullied for that at all"
ReplyDeleteNow i dont remember when it happened if it was after or before 2014 butwerent there a little kid (Michael Morones IIRC) that got put in a coma over wearing a MLP backpack
For if there is one point extremist feminists and channers fuckers such as yourself agree, it's that men that dont follow gender norms must have the "autism/boy cooties" kicked out of them.(Granted:It may not have been being bullied for MLP per se but the result was the same, i doubt channers like yourself can understand the nuance of that, being more familiar with very black and white meme shit like Chad and Virgin or that kind of shit)
