EFN loses...pretty much everything

After yesterday's loss of Pegasisters Live, many were left asking the question; "what does Everfree Network even have left?". As a group that prides itself on knowing everything and simultaneously nothing, we can tell you the answer is "Not much" (we wanted to use a saying there involving a guy named Jack, but we're all about #professionalism here on Horse-News).

We DO know that the cut runs deep, but how extensive is the hemorrhaging?

The more you tighten your grip Draft,
the more programs will slip through your fingers.
Simply Put; Everfree Network is on life-support. A quick look through their "Programs List" gives the impression of a ghost town. You can almost image the tumbleweeds when you read through the updates.
For example:

Brony Clubhouse - Last update: 8 months ago, last episode: April 2, 2013 Status: Inactive

Radiant Eclipse - Last Update: 2012 Status: Worm Food (Inactive)

Reading Rainboom - Last Update: February 2013 Status: Inactive

Post My Video - Put on "indefinite hiatus" by BVids and JHaller Status: Inactive

Pegasisters Live - Left for own site Status: Escaped (Inactive)

State of Brony - Last Update: June 2013 Status: Inactive

Brony Breakdown - Last EFN Update: August 2013 Status: Escaped (Inactive) - Saberspark does the show on his own livestream now, and suffers no loss of viewership for it.

Into the Spotlight with Osaka Jack- Status: "On Hiatus" (Basically inactive)

At this point, Everfree Network is on pace to cancel more shows in a year than Comedy Central. So what is left for DraftNet? If our rudimentary understanding of math is correct; the answer is: Not much. Over a third of the programs listed on the site are admittedly, currently inactive. The other 2/3rds aren't necessarily thriving either. "Buttonmashers" is on its own site. "EFR Presents and EFN Events" are both unscheduled. Lunar Republic Takeover is MIA - A quick search for the host, or anyone even referencing it on Twitter returns more tumble weeds than links. The host "Heat Wave" has removed the "EFN" from his twitter handle, and hasn't posted about his show since December, and neither has the EFN twitter. "Saturday Night Songs" with Michelle Creber still technically runs, but hasn't posted a show update to the site since 2012. The number of programs on EFN that people actually watch is falling fast.

And it's not just the "radio" side of the network. After the BABScon incident, Kryptonlogic who was the head of the Everfree News team picked up and left for Equestria Daily, and as a result, EFN has been reporting news, sometimes 2-3 DAYS after the rest of the media sites, so clearly their time as a source of up-to-date information is coming to a close as well.

So who still uses Everfree Network anymore? Well apparently, not Americans. According to international web-ranking service Alexa, over 55% of Everfree.net's visitors come from - not the United States, not Canada, not the UK or Germany...but Russia.

And this is not an error. When Horse-News.net came into being, we were introduced to Alexa and have been monitoring the ranking system ever since. Everfree.net used to be the second most-popular Pony Fan-Media site in the United States after Equestria Daily, typically hovering around the 150Kth-250Kth most popular site in the country. This is a distinction they have not held in nearly 2 months. The global ranking (which is based on 3 months of data) is beginning to slip as well, off into international obscurity. It is unknown how much traffic the site is getting as a result of its previous life as a Japanese Porn Site.

All of this, coupled with the reported loss of EFN's streaming privileges at conventions this year, and even the leader's ejection from the first U.S. convention of 2014, paints a very grim picture for the future of the Network.

We logged on to listen to some of their streams...and we were apparently alone. Just us, and the huge obnoxious advertisement clogging up the stream, as shown below.

Why are there ads all over?
 Simple.
Because nothing is Ever Free.

As we end most pieces here on Horse-News, we leave you with the burning questions that we simply can't answer.

How long will the remaining non-music programs stick around, especially when the other shows that have gone rogue have not suffered to any degree, and enjoy a greater level of autonomy? How long will the remaining audience stay, when they get treated poorly (such as being kicked out of the Everfree chats for repeating the same language that the stream hosts use)? Will people even want to listen to Osaka Jack's show when he comes back, when he is blocking people for offending him, and then getting upset when people respond in kind? Will Draft and the EFN heads be able to plug the ever widening hole in the hull of the ship before it is claimed completely, or will it be "all hands to the lifeboats" before too long?

Hope everyone can swim.

Best of luck to the shows who have decided to go solo, but we're pretty sure you won't be needing it.

  1. I stay in contact with a lot of Everfree Network folks including FinalDraft and its apparently EFN is on its last leg. I anticipate that within the next 90 days, you'll see them abandon ship and startup what they've been wanting to do for ages... http://poisonjoke.com, which would be a production company that works with #professional outlets to develop high quality media.

EFN will NOT survive the Season 4 hiatus.

  2. Great article.

Ever since I watched the circle-jerk "elements of brony" video with Draft in it, I knew this would happen eventually. In that video, he all but admits he stepped in to be the face/voice of the fandom. He was the hero we didn't need. I eagerly await the coverage of Draft-con.

  3. The only thing I ever liked about EFN was Reading Rainboom and that shit hasn't been around in ages. It needs to go solo. Readers get tons of views from EQD.

    1. That shit got cancelled after the people running it couldn't get shit done. I worked as one of the people putting the videos together and the people that were supposed to process the audio kept missing deadlines. I ended up pulling far too many last minute rushes because half the show members were useless. Draft and co got pissed off and the team after this happened one too many times and tried to 'organise' a new team to do it. That team lasted about 2 weeks before the show just sort of died. I still have some of the raw files on my computer.

  4. Draft tried to shake things up and become an EQD competitor. At first, he was moderately successful. But the truth is, he took a shit on everyone that was friendly to him, and cried crocodile tears when they caught on to his antics.

He exploited the fact that a lot of the more-connected people in this fandom couldn't separate friendly affairs from #professional affairs. He's a son of a bitch for doing it and I'm glad to see his autofellating horsecock "empire" crumble as everyone catches on.

MLP-MSP is going to be a shit show. I can't wait.

    1. MLP-MSP is already a disaster. The guest lineup is awful and the con chairs don't know what they're doing. I hope they don't expect to return in 2015 because they won't survive this year especially with Draft. I'm not going because of that single reason, because FinalDraft is going to be there.

    2. My meet up group met the guy for a Q&A thing. I didn't go, but I wonder if they called him out on the shit he's pulled. Probably not because he's a 'celebrity' and wanted to be on his good side.

    3. My friend Xander is a guest of honor. I wasn't aware he had a pony connection (he and his business partner tend to do their own indie-comics and educational comics), so I hope to mine any stories I can.

  6. I hope Final Draft and his "buddies" stay the fuck away from BronyCon. We don't need your bullshit.

  7. I kind of want to see it. The EFN collapsing into oblivion.
Not really because I endlessly hate them. I didn't actually know all the shit behind them until the BABScon thingy. It's just the sheer curiosity of seein' formerly-big things collapse. Like detonated buildings or car crashes in movies, it's just entertainin' to watch, because you know that, in fact, no one was harmed there anyway.

That said, I'm still waitin' for the "Why we hate Final Draft" thingy to be written, but I take now that the most appropriate time for it to be released would be once EFN is finally breathless.

  9. I'm praying for the safety of those going to MLP MSP. I truly hope Draft won't be yet another Sandy Vag and Jew the unsuspecting bronies going. I mean more drama is okay, but the fandom doesn't need another LPU. If that happened, it could spell doom for other conventions' ability to get show talent and such.

    1. I've talked to draft a few times about the con. To my knowledge, the guests were paid up front and the venue is taken care of. It'll be a smaller convention, but it probably won't be another LPU

  10. The only question left is if it's gonna go quietly or if FD is gonna rip the site down and make a big hissy fit where he victimizes himself.

  11. It's pretty funny because HN came to be thanks to FD being a bitch.

  12. Fun fact. Draft even pisses off the members of his IRC mod team. EFN used to be a fun place till Draft thought he was more important than he was.

  17. Saturday Night Songs has been semi-regular recently and Dusty's show is still going strong, still the lineup isn't as good as it was. I don't think it'll be a complete collapse, it's just shrinking and lessening in influence. I mainly go there for Midnight Madlibs on Friday/Saturday Nights and Dusty.

  18. Good riddance, EFN. Fuck y'all.

  19. If you look on alexia, you can see that something like 98% of search words that lead to the site are all ask princess molestia.

The everfree hits are people that weren't even looking for it.
