Trigger Warning: Equestria Girls declared more offensive/insensitive than movies about drugs, racism, violence

Trigger Warning: Small caption text.

In the latest public display of their infinite wisdom, vast intellect, and firm grasp on reality, tumblr users movietriggers.com users have ranked last year's children's cartoon film about ponies-Equestria Girls-as being more offensive and insensitive, than hundreds of films on topics that are almost universally deemed unacceptable in society.
(Trigger Warning: Triggers)
The website known as movietriggers.com lists 3 known "triggers" provided by its users for the My Little Pony movie as shown above. "Triggers" for the normal people non-tumblr users out there are defined as "A topic, phrase or word that emotionally sets someone off. Could refer to anger, or reliving a traumatic experience."  Triggers are common among SJWs and neofeminists on Tumblr and similar sites, and are typically used to label something as being politically incorrect, insensitive, or offensive. Which is CLEARLY the case here.

Technically, if the "traumatic experience" that Equestria Girls makes you relive is highshool, or worse yet Highschool Musical (or maybe just reliving Equestria Girls itself), they might have a point there. But no, the biggest trigger listed for Equestria Girls is "unrealistic body images".

Just let this sink in for a few.
Among the movies above, which would you pick as being the most offensive? The movies about racism? The movies about drugs and violence? The movies about religion or toilet humor? How about the movie about literally shitting into other people's mouths? If you answered yes to any of those, then you would be dead wrong. That's right, users have ranked The Princess Bride as being 4 times worse than American History X, 12 times more offensive than Dogma, and an incalculable amount more than Song of the South, Jackass, Cheech and Chong, Bruno, The Dictator and hundreds of others that have exactly 0 triggers listed. Of course it is only twice as insensitive as the non-stop abuse that is An Extremely Goofy Movie, what with its hour-long torture scene and graphic depictions of college life poverty, and implied geriatric sex.

So yes, we now live in a world where some people can be more upset by universally-loved great movies about princesses and magic (and also movies like Equestria Girls), more than they will be upset by long chains of bodies passing feces into each other's mouths.

Editor's note: We here at Horse-News are shocked that there are people who can get upset at movies about ponies, such a thing is highly unprecedented and unheard of.

  4. I think what one could take from the rankings is that social justice warrior types just don't go for movies with controversial topics like American History X, or shocking content like Human Centipede. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.

Also, here's an idea. If you want to make fun of some fat chicks around Xmas or their birthday, get em some really skinny dolls, and say in the card something like "I hope this doll serves as an inspiration that you too could be a better person if you try". They'll get the hint.

    1. True, but it's also not like any of the movies shown above is obscure by any means - most of them you can see on television at some point in any given month - you would think that they would have ranked them by now.

And I am definitely doing that with the dolls

  7. I don't think that I find any of these movies triggering. I watch movies pretty often, and by far, I've never seen anything triggering or offensive to me.

  8. I believe that some people may find some horror movies quite disgusting, but personally, I don't watch them at all. I can say that most of the time, I watch spanish movies with subtitles, and I believe that's the best way to learn spanish, and most of spanish movies are not triggering at all. I understand that people are different, so it depends, but I think it's hard to get offended after watching a love comedy or anything like that.
